At the request of Stéphane Tran Ngoc, André Sakellarides made him a viola d'amore which happened to be the last instrument he finished before passing away during the Covid crisis in 2021.
In line with the baritone violin, André Sakellarides chose to make a similar instrument, that is to say asymmetrical, thus giving more body to the instrument while keeping it in standard playing proportions. This resulted in an instrument with clear but also deep tone.
The instrument was lost by the postal services for several months before being found and returned to Stéphane Tran Ngoc in May 2022. Since that date, Stéphane has played this instrument in chamber music and in pieces for solo viol, ranging from Bach to Scarlatti, Casadesus, Fine or Knox in a very varied repertoire but always appreciated by the public.
