When the Washington Post writes that « Stéphane Tran Ngoc has this magical quality where the instrument becomes an extension of the spirit», it is the musician's profound engagement and his luminous playing that are celebrated.
A musician who is constantly in search for a perfect balance, allowing for expression at every moment, Stephane Tran Ngoc has shared his artistry and his passion in over thirty countries, as a soloist as well as a chamber musician, playing as a soloist with orchestra, in sonatas or in a quartet in the world's leading halls -Salle Pleyel in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo…
His training includes the great music schools: the Paris Conservatoire, where he is awarded a First Prize at 15, followed by the Brooklyn College and the Juilliard School of New York. In these schools, he learns with the great masters, such as Itzhak Perlman and Dorothy Delay. International prizes follow: Grand Prix Jacques Thibaud, Premio Paganini, Artists International of New York and "Grand Prix du Disque".
Naturally, his passion to express himself through music leads him to teach. There also, his path is outstanding, soon teaching for several years in the Lyon CNSM in France and the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in the US before being appointed head of strings at the London College of Music in 2008. He is concertmaster of the Danish Chamber Players since September 2010 and plays on a 1709 Francesco Gobetti violin which has been recognized as a highlight of great Venetian violin making.
